Coaster® – Intellectual Property

“We’ve found hard braking to be one of the most highly predictive variables for predicting future crashes.” – Progressive Insurance

Generally, collision risk is associated with drivers. Coaster® instead associates collision risk with location. The Coaster® application is focused on monitoring drivers for harsh braking and tying harsh braking driving behavior to location for vehicle collision risk spotting and mitigation. This technology is the subject of U.S. Patent Number 9,959,687 and other intellectual property.

U.S. Patent Number 9,959,687 is centered around detecting harsh braking, logging harsh braking location, and mapping and clustering the harsh braking driving.

The technology can provide a return on investment by enabling you to focus on higher collision risk locations. Partners may seek to incorporate this for additional functionality in applications such as:

Insurance – Assess higher risk collision locations and/or notify drivers in order to decrease collision expenditures.

Fleets – Assess higher risk collision locations and/or notify drivers in order to decrease collision expenditures and downtime.

Smart Cities – Assess higher risk collision locations and modify traffic signaling or infrastructure in order to decrease first responder deployments.
